Position Title: Driver
Reports To: Director of Operations
Summary:
Drives truck with capacity under 3 tons to transport materials in packaged form to plants, residences, offices, or within industrial yards. Also assists with packing, loading, and unloading of materials; including the use of a forklift.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in area
- Prepare receipts for load picked up
- Verify load against shipping papers
- Obtain signatures and paperwork from customer receiving dept
- Collect payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges. (if needed)
- Maintain truck log according to state and federal, and company regulations
- Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions
- Is responsible for vehicle fuel card and cell phone
- Know and understand emergency procedures
- Operates forklift to assist with material preparation for shipping
- Assists with packing of material
- Assists with loading and unloading of truck
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Perform all activities using prescribed safe methods
- Maintains an organized and clean work area
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Forklift Operator Certificate holder or eligible for certificate.
- Learns and performs job related tasks with instruction.
- Prepares paperwork accurately.
- Participates in the Quest – the company’s world class continuous process improvement program.
- Abides by the company values.
- Maintains a good attendance record.
- Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
- Exert 25 to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
- Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or
- Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid Massachusetts drivers license
- Successful completion of a D.O.T. physical exam required. (DOT card)
- Current holder of valid Forklift Certificate or eligible to sit for certificate
