Packing & Shipping Coordinator


This is a hands-on position that will be responsible for ensuring shipments are planned, prepared, and packed for shipment per customer specification using standard boxes, crates, or skids for shipments. He/she will oversee and assist with constructing nonstandard boxes or containers as required, select materials for packing or protection of product, and method of bracing or blocking to prevent shifting or damage while in transit. It will also be critical that the SP Coordinator ensure all shipments are checked against the packing list for inclusion of all components and parts and proper documentation is included.


  • Monitors daily activities for packing and shipping and report/maintain performance metrics
  • Provides direction for packing and shipping of finished goods and logistics related issues
  • Participates in strategizing of daily and future workload
  • Coordinates cross-functional relationships on behalf of the packing and shipping team
  • Analyze department footprint to utilize best methods of both long-term and short-term storage
  • Deliver results consistent with goals, expectations, and regulations in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity, and Environment.
  • Overseeing compliance with safety programs and policies to ensure safe operations with state and federal regulations
  • Manage inventory of packing and shipping supplies
  • Review production and schedules to coordinate people and processes to help achieve production, on time delivery, and quality expectations
  • Work with the Warehouse Coordinator to manage the execution of customer Kanban programs
  • Drive specific process improvement, cost reduction, and continuous improvement projects as directed
  • Package shipments using care with appropriate containers, protective inserts/padding, etc.
  • Accurately count pieces of material, operate circular, chop, and table saws. Assemble wooden or cardboard containers, and use pallet jack and fork truck to transport materials, when needed
  • Facilitate Train-the-Trainer program for the use of power truck and other powered material handling equipment
  • Ensure operation of equipment by following preventive maintenance requirements
  • Ensure quality assurance standards are being met with required standards
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Perform all work safely and efficiently
  • Perform all other job duties as required


  • 3+ years of experience in packing & shipping. Prior lead or supervisory experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Must be proactive and results oriented with a strong customer focus
  • Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across the organization
  • Exceptional time management, prioritization, and organizational skills. Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks
  • Computer proficiency, working knowledge of Microsoft Office and scheduling software
  • Ability to measure length using a carpenter ruler and other measuring devices
  • Must be able to perform tasks with a full range of motion from kneeling, crouched, stooped, bent at the waist, upright and arms fully extended overhead
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, up to 75 pounds
  • Visual acuity is required for reading orders, machine dial gauges, and precision measuring instruments
  • Hearing ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes
